Congrats To Clintwood

The Raiders are leaps and bounds above the rest of the league. Norton will have no trouble with either squad.

I understand that CW gives them fits, and has for years. The reason for my post was because, like I said, all I've heard is that Norton is the best in the LPD. Now all of a sudden everyone thinks they will have trouble with the last 3 games. Now I will admit that if they dont come prepared then someone could knock them off. If they play like they have al lyear then they will win the remaining games on their schedule.

i didnt getta make it to this one but from some of Burton boys who were there, they laughed and said it was just a battle between two decent teams, neither was impressive and couldnt hang with the raiders for even a quarter....from hearsay this was just a battle of two overrated teams...but either way ...congrats c wood ...thatll leave a bitter taste for gate city and coach c ....always good to see an underdog win.. specially against the devils...lol j/k

I see Clintwood giving Burton a good game for a little bit but Burton wearing them down.

Of course sitting on the press box right behind the Burton players that were there, they seemed to be into the game and didn't act like it was "two average teams who couldn't hang with JIB".

They better not have that attitude. What they dont need now is to be running their mouth and getting cocky. Still alot of football to be played. I hope they can stay focused and continue to winn games.

I may have missed it Burton2019, but hadn't seen any Clintwood folks saying it. Heck, we got Kelly, and honestly, Clintwood will have a hard time with them, if they don't end up pulling the upset. We're a very inconsistent team.

Clintwood does always give JIB a good game. This year's Burton team is a different team, they are playing with a purpose. They are more focused than any team I seen while I went to school there. Do remember the game CW handed it to JIB when Boo played. Back then that team went into to 3 games thinking that they were going to win. They got beat by CW, and also had the state rushing record set against them by Thomas Jones. Everybody thought that since we had Boo and Mark Daniels, that we could stop Thomas but he just ran the ball down their throats.
With all that said, I think the JIB team this year is finally taking one game at a time that is how you win. Dont look two or three weeks down the road, you have to win the one on Friday first. Coach Adams seems like he has the team thinking that way, if so watch out Greenwave. BTW nobody has held Burton to less than 32 points in a game. If you are going to beat Burton be ready for a track meet.

I believe the only team to come within 3 touchdowns of beating the Raiders is Powell Valley.

That's saying something about Burton. But I think the Burton/Clintwood game will be similar to Burton vs. PV. Clintwood gives them a great game during third quarter but Burton wears them down.
